James Foresman was stricken with apoplexy yesterday morning and at this writing is in a very critical condition. He was stricken while doing his morning chores and has been unconscious since. Very little encouragement is given for his recovery.

Just as we go to press, we learn of the death of James Foresman, who was stricken with apoplexy, Tuesday of last week. He died at 3:30 this afternoon. The funeral will be held on Friday afternoon at 1:30.

James Foresman was born in Trumbull county, Ohio, August 1,1846. He was the seventh child of a family of 8 children, six sons and two daughters, born to Samuel and Rebecca Foresman. Of this family but two now survive, the Rev. J. O. Foresman, of Council Grove, Kan., and Mrs. Sarah Dryden, of Ravenwood, Mo.
The deceased came with his parents to Madison county, la in 1861. In 1864 he enlisted in Co. E 47th Iowa Infantry, and served the term of his enlistment of one hundred days.
He was married to Mary E. Travis, of Walnut township, Oct. 15, 1874. They were the parents of five children, Mrs. Vina Hartsook, Mrs. Beatrice Speers. Mrs. Gertrude Warner, Mott and Robert. One son, Mott, died July 29, 1910.
In 1884 he moved his family to Winterset and since that time had made this place his home. The deceased suffered from ill health during the greater part of his life but was apparently as well as usual when he was stricken with apoplexy on the morning of Jan. 9th. He died Jan. 17, 1912, aged sixty-five years.
