CIVILLA BENNETT TAYLOR

Civilla E. Bennett, the daughter of Myron and Emiline Bennett, was born south of Earlham, December 25, 1874, and departed this life at her home near Earlham, February 28, 1939. At the time of her death she was 64 years, two months and three days old. She has lived her entire lifetime in the vicinity of Earlham. She received her education in the Winterset schools.

March 12, 1902, in the Presbyterian church she was united in marriage to William H. Taylor. To this union seven children were born. Mrs. Mary Cook of Illinois; Mrs. Mable Putney of Stuart, Iowa; DeVere of Illinois; Charles and Henry of Earlham. Two sons, Arthur and Glen preceded their mother in death.

Besides the immediate family, she leaves one sister Mrs. Celinda Meneffee of Long Beach, California, other relatives and numberless friends. Mrs. Taylor's friends were numbered by her acquaintances, for she was a friend of all.

In early girlhood she united with the Baptist church, later transferring her membership to the Presbyterian church of Earlham, to which church she was a most devoted and faithful member.

Mrs. Taylor was one of the pioneer home-makers of Madison county. She took exceptional interest in her home, trying to make happy and contented her loved ones. She was a good neighbor, ready to extend a helping hand to those in need.

Services were held from the Presbyterian church Saturday afternoon, by the pastor, Rev. S. R. Overholser. The body was laid to rest beside loved ones in the Earlham cemetery.
