FORMER MACKSBURG RESIDENT IS DEAD

Lewis R. Jessup, last surviving member of the immediate family of Martin and Delvina Moon Jessup, pioneer residents of Madison county, died Feb. 23 at his home in Banning, California. He was 79 years of age.

Mr. Jessup grew to manhood in Grand River township, and married Kate Doty, sister of Frank Doty of Macksburg. At the time of his death, he still owned the farm south of Macksburg where they started housekeeping, and where their two sons, Doyle and Merle, were born. Mrs. Jessup died about six years ago. The sons now live in California.

Mr. Jessup spent several weeks last summer visiting in Macksburg.

Miss Vernie Busch and Mrs. F. A. Bonham of Macksburg are cousins, and Mrs. H. U. Garret of St. Charles and Des Moines is a niece, of Mr. Jessup.
