LONG TIME RESIDENT DIED HERE SATURDAY

S. O. Ridout, 76, Former Webster Township Farmer Buried Monday

Samuel O. Ridout, a long time resident of Webster township died here in Winterset Saturday, July 23 at the age of 76 years. Mr. Ridout had lived in Winterset the past few years, and had been seriously ill with cancer since April.

Mr. Ridout was born in Jasper county, Dec. 19, 1872. After attending the rural schools, he attended college at Marshalltown, majoring in music. He farmed as long as his health permitted.

He was married to Miss Caroline M. Hart, Nov. 30, 1898, and they became the parents of nine children, two of whom preceded the father in death, Clair Lamont in infancy, and Mrs. Vivian Egy. The wife and mother died in 1947.

Mr. Ridout is survived by his seven children: Mrs. Waunita Christensen of Lorimor, Lloyd Ridout and Mrs. Lora Stephensen of Winterset, Mrs. Lorna Jones, Mrs. Nels Christensen and Wayne Ridout of Fontanelle, and Mrs. Zaida Cobb of Omaha, Neb. He also leaves 22 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

The Rev. I. E. Linkletter, pastor of the Church of Christ, conducted his funeral services Monday afternoon from the Richards funeral home, and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery. The Rev. Donald Worden also assisted with the services.
