Wednesday, June 22, 1949EVA A. McCULLEY DIED WEDNESDAY
She Had Been Resident of Winterset About Half Century
Eva A. McCulley, a Winterset resident for many years, died Wednesday, June 15, at the Black Rest home here. She had been in failing health for several months.
Miss McCulley was 73 years of age, and had been a resident of Winterset for about half a century. She was born at Grandview on April 5, 1876, a daughter of David and Amy McCulley. Her early life was spent at Grandview and she came to Winterset as a young woman.
Miss McCulley was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Her sister, Cora, long-time Winterset school teacher, died several years ago. Nearest surviving relatives include six nieces and three nephews.
Funeral services were held here last Friday from the United Presbyterian church, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. William P. Gordon. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
County Coordinator's Note: Her true DOB is believed to be 05 Apr 1869 despite what her gravestone says. As Eva and her sister, Cora, grew older, their census DOB kept advancing to make them seem younger than they actually were. Census information given by their mother in 1900 as well as the 1880 census in Louisa County show Cora to be born in 1869.
