PHYLLIS GALLAGHER DIES AT IOWA CITY

Young Woman of Winterset Died Monday at University Hospital There

Two years of failing health ended in the death Monday of Mrs. Phyllis Gallagher, well known young woman of Winterset. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Sawyer, and her death occurred at the University hospital in Iowa City. She was 23 years of age.

Mrs. Gallagher was the former Phyllis Jane Sawyer, and she was born at Winterset, November 14, 1925. This community has always been her home. She graduated from the Winterset high school with the class of 1943, and had been attending Iowa State college at Ames for three years, when her health failed.

She was married to James Gallagher of Waterloo on Aug. 31, 1947.

Mrs. Gallagher was a member of the Winterset Methodist church, and was affiliated with the local chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she leaves two sisters, Mrs. Doris Poindexter of Bellflower, Calif., and Barbara Sawyer of Winterset; and a brother, Philip Sawyer, who is stationed at Ft. Knox, Ky., with the U.S. army.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2:30 p.m. from the Winterset Methodist church, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Glenn R. Parrott. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
