Former Resident Died at Pleasantville on Sept. 28
Mrs. Linnie May Bacon, a resident of Winterset for many years, died last Wednesday, Sept. 28 at Pleasantville. She was 80 years of age.
Mrs. Bacon was the former Linnie May Hoots, daughter of Francis and Mary Ellen Hoots, and was born at Cook's Mill, Ill., on May 26, 1869. She was married to George W. Light on July 29, 1887. They were the parents of six children, four of whom preceded her in death. Mr. Light died in 1944.
She was married Oct. 18, 1947, to William Bacon. Since the marriage their home had been at Pleasantville.
In addition to her husband, she leaves a daughter, Mrs. Walter Howard of Dallas Center; a son, Claude Light of Kansas City, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She is survived also by two brothers, Alby Hoots of Decatur, Ill., and Arthur Hoots of Winterset, a half brother; and five stepsons and stepdaughters.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Anderson home for funerals, in charge of the Rev. Glenn Parrott, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
