PIONEER RESIDENT SUCCUMBS AT TRURO

Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Jane Cason, 86, were held last Wednesday, Dec. 8, at Blair Chapel church in South township.

Mrs. Cason died on Dec. 5 at the Hall Nursing home in Truro. She was a lifelong resident of Madison county.

The daughter of George and Sarah Shaver, she was born near St. Charles on May 15, 1868.

She is married to Jonathan M. Cason on Mar. 19, 1890. Her husband died in 1894.

Mrs. Cason joined the Blair Chapel United Brethren church at an early age, and was active in church work over a long period of years.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. Surviving are four sisters, Allie Taylor of Prole, Emma Freeman of Des Moines, Lula Richardson of Winterset, and Ollie Palmer of Earlham; and one brother, Oscar Shaver of Winterset.

Officiating at the services last Wednesday was the Rev. Eldon Haworth of St. Charles. Burial was in the Blair Chapel cemetery.

Truro News Bits

Mrs. Laura J. Carson died Sunday at the Hall nursing home where she had been confined to her bed for the past three years and nine months. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Blair Chapel and interment was there.
