Verdie Blanch Weaver, daughter of Floretta Arminta Eppard and John William Weaver was born January 28, 1896 in rural Madison County, Iowa. She passed away August 22, 1972 at Madison County Memorial Hospital at Winterset, Iowa after a short illness.
Verdie was one of ten children. Two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Speer and Mrs. Sadie Smith, both of Winterset, Iowa, survive her.
She was united in marriage to Silas Edwin Thompson in 1917. To this union was born four children; Ruby Blanch, Harold Edwin, Opal May, and Floyd Hulbert. Ruby Blanch preceded her in death at the age of ten months. Her husband passed away in 1968.
Surviving are her children; Harold and wife Betty of Lampe, Missouri; Opal (Mrs. Howard Morelock) and husband, Howard of West Des Moines; and Floyd and wife Scharlotte of West Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Services were held at Evans Funeral Home at Earlham, Thursday, August 24, 1972 with burial in the Earlham cemetery.

Page 4Funeral services were held August 24 from the Evans Funeral Home in Earlham for Mrs. Verdie Thompson of Earlham whose death had occurred August 22 at Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Mrs. Thompson was a native of Jackson township, where she was born January 28, 1896, a daughter of John W. and Flora Arminta Eppard Weaver she was married in 1917 to Edwin Thompson. His death occurred in 1968.
Surviving are three children, Harold Thompson of Lampe, Missouri, and Mrs. Opal Morelock and Floyd Thompson of West Des Moines; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Smith of Winterset and Margaret Speer of Upper St.Clair, Pa.
