Services for Joe Elwood Dowler, 71, Lorimor, who died Mar. 20, 1983 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, were held at the Methodist Church in Lorimor on Wednesday (today) at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Hagy officiating. Burial was at the Lorimor Cemetery.
He was born at Dodge City, Kan., April 17, 1911 to Joseph and Ruth Dowler and married Mildred Courtney Aug. 19, 1931. He lived most of his life in Lorimor and was a retired county employee in the roads department. He was a member of the Lorimor Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge of Lorimor.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Bill (Barb) King of Lorimor; sons, Richard of Omaha and Ray of Lorimor; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Marie Beverlin of Winterset, and Mrs. Hazel Weber of Council Bluffs; a brother, Harold Dowler of Omaha; a half-brother, James of Chicago; and a step-mother, Lillian Dowler of Lorimor.
Preceding him in death were his parents and an infant son.
