MRS. LEWIS SAWHILL DIES

Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. Lewis Sawhill of Silver Plume, Colorado, who died on Monday, June 26th. Mrs. Sawhill was formerly Margery Wilson a resident of Madison county and a resident of Iowa for many years. Following are a few facts of her life:

Mrs. Margery Wilson Sawhill, the former Margery Emma Wilson , was born at Washington, Iowa, May 22, 1857, the sixth child of family of eleven brothers and sisters. At an early age she moved with her parents to a farm near Winterset, in Madison county, Iowa where she lived until her marriage December 19, 1887 to Lewis Henry Sawhill of Silver Plume, Colorado, formerly of Madison county.

They established their home in Silver Plume, Colorado where they lived until 1890. They lived In Denver two years and then returned to Winterset, Iowa where they resided one year. Returning to Colorado in 1893 they lived near Erie for three years and in 1896 they moved to the present farm east of Boulder.

She was the mother of six sons, three of whom survive. They are Dr. John A. Sawhill of Harrisonburg, Virginia; George L. Sawhill of Boulder, Colorado, and Charles L. Sawhill of Denver, Colorado. Her husband, three grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers also survive. The sisters are, Mrs. Virginia Lovell of Rapid City, South Dakota and Mrs. Taylor Houston of Valley Junction, Iowa. The brothers are Chester S. (Bob) Wilson and William Oscar Wilson who reside near Rapid City, South Dakota.

Always a devout Christian she was actively interested in the work of the church since childhood.

Although in declining health for several years she was able to be up and about the home until two weeks before her death which occurred Monday June 26, 1933.

Funeral services were held June 19th and burial was made in the Valmont cemetery, east of Boulder, Colorado.
