Frank Sage, son of Jesse and Leatina Sage, was born in Jamaica, Vermont, Dec. 22, 1847 and departed this life at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Minnie Robinson, in Winterset, Saturday, April 11, 1925, aged 77 years.
At the age of 24 years, he moved to Warrenville, Ill, where he met Anna M. Reynolds. They were married Feb. 14, 1875, and two weeks later moved to Adams county, Iowa, near Corning. This was their home for 26 years and the birthplace of their six children: Ella Harden of Corning, Edith Gillet of Afton, Ray of Indianola, Harry of Winterset, Nina Rogers of Morgan, Minn., and Minnie Robinson of Winterset. Since 1901 they have made their home in and near Winterset, with the exception of three years spent near Lorimor.
In early life he became a Christian, united with the church, and remained a faithful follower to the end. His wife preceded him in death two and one half months. His decline has been gradual, caused by bronchial trouble, which weakened the heart, confining him to his bed only about ten days. All of the children were at his bedside during his last hours and are deeply grieved in the loss of both parents within so short a time.
He was an affectionate father, a good neighbor and had a host of friends who, with the loved ones, mourn his loss. Besides the children, he leaves 11 grandchildren, one great grandchild, one sister, Mrs. Sarah Divoll of Clinton, Mass., and other relatives.
Brief services, conducted by Rev. Stanley Gillet of the Baptist church, were held at the home of Mrs. Minnie Robinson in Winterset, Monday, and the body was taken to Corning for burial.
