Death of Fred Roseman

Word has been received here of the death of Fred Roseman, on Friday, February 24th at his home in Wellington, Kansas. Mr. Roseman would have been 68 years of age had he lived until April 17th.

The deceased was a former resident of Earlham and leaves a brother, James Roseman of Earlham. He was one of eight children born to Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Roseman. In addition to his brother James, he leaves a brother Elmer of Pasadena, California and a sister, Myrtle of Mission, Texas.

On November 24, 1904, he was married to Bertha DeWitt of Earlham. They were the parents of four children; Leroy, the oldest son died August 23, 1922, Paul, Helen and Mrs. E. R. Wilson of Wellington, Kansas. In 1906 the family moved to Wellington, and have since resided there.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, February 27, from the First Methodist church. They were conducted by the pastor, Rev. Nelson S. Garner. A mixed quartet sang several selections and burial was in the Prairie Lawn cemetery.

Fred Roseman was born near Winterset, Iowa, April 17, 1865, and passed away at his home at Wellington, Kansas, Feb. 24, 1933. Had he lived until April, he would have been 68 years of age. He was one of eight children born to E. M. and Margaret Roseman. Of this family only three are left: Elmer of Pasadena, Calif., Myrtle of Mission, Tex., and James of Earlham, Iowa.

Father, mother, Clara, Charlie, Florence and Allie preceded him in death.

On November 24, 1904, he was united in marriage to Bertha Dewitt at Earlham. To this union were born four children, Leroy, the oldest son passing away Aug. 22, 1922. Paul, Helen and Mrs. R. E. Wilson reside at Wellington, Kansas.

In 1906 they moved to Kansas and have made their home at Wellington since.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon Feb. 27, at 3:30 from the First Methodist Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Nelson Gardner. A mixed quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. V. E. Dieterich, Mrs. Glenn B. Miller and H. H. Buchanan, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. W. L. Archer, sang “The Old Rugged Cross,” “How Firm a Foundation” and “It Is Well With My Soul.” Burial was made in the Prairie Lawn Cemetery at Wellington.
