CLIFTON CONNORAN DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Brother of Mrs. Warren Smith of Winterset Was 80 Years Old

Clifton Connoran, former Winterset and Indianola resident, died in his sleep Friday, June 15th at his home in Los Angeles, Calif., according to word received here recently by his sister, Mrs. Warren Smith. Mr. Connoran would have been 80 years of age had he lived until June 22nd; embolism was said to have been the cause of death.

The deceased was a son of the late Ed Connoran, pioneer Winterset merchant. He was born in Winterset June 22, 1871, and lived here until after his graduation from high school. He worked for a time in a jewelry store here and in Chicago, but bought a jewelry store in Indianola 56 years ago. After owning and operating the Indianola store 50 years, he retired in 1945, and he and his wife moved to California to be near their daughter, Irene. His wife died three years ago, and his only near surviving relatives are the daughter, Mrs. Irene Plath of Los Angeles, and his sister, Mrs. Warren Smith of Winterset.

Funeral and burial services were held in Los Angeles, June 20th.
