Mrs. Dean Leslie, Stricken By Pneumonia Died Here Monday
The Winterset community was shocked Monday, Nov. 4, by the sudden death of Mrs. Dean L. Leslie, which occurred that day at Memorial hospital after a brief illness.
Mrs. Leslie was 24 years of age, and the mother of two small children. She became ill Sunday with pneumonia, and was taken to the hospital, where her death occurred the next day.
Mrs. Leslie was a native of Gallatin, Mo., where she was born and spent most of her life. She was the former Doris Runnels. She graduated from Gallatin high school with the class of 1951, and on Aug. 25 of that year she was married to Dean L. Leslie.
They came to Winterset in the fall of 1952, when Mr. Leslie joined the faculty of the Winterset schools as vocal music instructor. She had been a resident of this community since that time. She too was a musician and has given piano lessons in her home.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Debra Sue, aged 5 years and Paula Jean, aged 20 months; and by her mother, Mrs. Amler Runnels of Gallatin, Mo.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday afternoon from the first Presbyterian church of Winterset, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. George DeF. Fisher. Burial will be made this Thursday at Gallatin.
