Winterset resident Had Been Seriously Ill since March 18
Charles E. Jones, long-time resident of this community, died Friday, May 3, at a hospital in Iowa City. He had been seriously ill since March 18, and had been a patient at Memorial hospital in Winterset until April 26, when he was transferred to Iowa City.
Mr. Jones was 64 years of age. He was born in Madison county on March 16, 1893, a son of William and Mary Jones. His boyhood was spent in the states of Illinois and Colorado.
He was married in 1917 to Eva Guiberson, who survives him. They were parents of four daughters, Mrs. Leslie Wood and Mrs. Merlin Hutchison of Des Moines, Mrs. John Seibert of Peoria, Ill., and Mrs. Ray Cameron of Winterset.
In addition to his wife and the four daughters, he leaves a step-daughter, Mrs. Ray Butler; 13 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Jess Wood of Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Earl Loehr of Sheridan, Ore; and three brothers, Cliff and Arch Jones of Stuart and Jake Jones of Lorimor.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Anderson home for funerals, conducted by the Rev. W. W. Steinmetz, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
