Winterset, IowaSTEWART FOLEY DIES AT AGE OF 86 YEARS
Steward Bern Foley, a former resident of Monroe township for 29 years, died on Oct. 18 at the home of his son, C. W. Foley, in Indianola.
Death came while Mr. Foley and his wife were visiting at the son's home in Indianola. He was 86 years of age.
The son of John Henry and Sarah Olden Foley, he was born on Aug. 2, 1865, on the Foley homestead two and one-half miles west of Renwick, Ia.
He married Alta Iva Howland of Hardy. They were the parents of nine children, one of whom preceded the parents in death.
Had Mr. Foley lived until Dec. 19, 1951, he and his wife would have observed their 65th wedding anniversary.
Mr. Foley lived in the Hardy community until 1911, when he and his family moved to Palacias, Texas, where they lived for two years. They then moved to Monroe township where they made their home until four years ago, then moving to Renwick.
Surviving are his wife, eight children, Besse Foley at home, Mrs. Vivian Myers of Pocahontas, Mrs. Hattie Zentner of Renwick, Mrs. Phyllis Harper of Truro, Berne of Des Moines, Roy of Peru, William of Indianola, and Floyd of Jonesburg, Mo.; 20 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, one sister, Raye Foley of Palacias, Texas.
The Rev. Custer of the Renwick Methodist church officiated at the funeral service.
