Funeral Services Held on March 9 at Earlham Church
Albert Hermon, life-long resident of Madison county, died at his home in Madison township Saturday, March 6. He was 66 years of age.
The son of James and Mary Jane Smith Hermon, he was born at Winterset July 28, 1881. He was married Feb. 19, 1913, to Grace M. Waltz. They were the parents of five children, all of whom survive.
He was a member of the Baptist church in early life, later changing to the Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, he leaves the five children, Bernice Loring of San Jose, Calif., Beatrice Palmer of Peru, Melvin Hermon of Adel, Josephine Ward of Dallas Center, and Mardena Landers of Adel. He also leaves three brothers, Charles Hermon of Winterset, Ross Hermon of Libertyville, Ill., and Walter Hermon, on the home farm; and two sisters, Minnie Wilson of Libertyville, Mo., and Beulah Braden of California.
Funeral services were held March 9 from the Earlham Church of Christ, in charge of the Rev. L. F. Davis of Winterset, and the Rev. S. R. Overholser of Earlham. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at the Church of Christ for Albert Hermon, who died Friday night at his home south of Earlham. Mr. Hermon was 66 years old at the time of his death and had been ill for several years.
He is survived by his wife, four daughters, and one son, and several sisters, and brothers. Rev. Davis of Winterset, assisted by Rev. Overholser, had charge of the services. Mr. Charles Soderberg and Mrs. Arthur Marks sang two musical selections. They were accompanied by Mrs. Mervyn McLennan. Pall bearers were Albert Sole, George Hoskins, J. O. McCleary, Harold Beaman, Oral Beaman and Frank Stanley. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.

March 1948Albert Hermon, son of James Hermon and Mary Jane Smith Hermon was born at Winterset, July 28, 1881 and died March 6, 1948. He spent his boyhood and entire life within this county. Bert, as he was known by his friends and neighbors was a kind and loving father, and a much loved neighbor and a good Christian citizen. He was a Baptist in early years then later an attendant of the Church of Christ. But since his failing health of the past eight years was confined to his home and unable to attend anywhere.
On February 19, 1913 he was united in marriage to Grace Mildred Waltz. Five children blessed this home. All are living and were with him at the time of his departure.
They are namely: Bernice Laing(Loring)of San Jose, California; Beatrice Palmer of Peru; Melvin of Adel; Josephine Ward of Dallas Center, and Mardena Landers of Adel. Beside the wife and children that survive he has the following brothers and sisters: Charlie of Winterset; Minnie Wilson of Libertyville, Illinois; Ross of Milburn, Illinois; Buelah Braden of Roscoe, California; and Walter who resided in the home with him.
He has also a large number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews and relatives to mourn his passing.
Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ at Earlham, Tuesday, March 9 at 2 p.m. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.
