Earlham, IowaANNA L. COOK
Anna Laura Wynkoop, eldest child of Simeon and Mary J. Wynkoop, was born in Clinton county, Ohio, October 22, 1868, and passed away May 11, 1948 at the home of Mrs. Lizzie Stanley in Earlham.
When a child of eight years, she with her parents, moved from Ohio to Madison county, Iowa, where she spent the remainder of her busy life.
She was never idle,--never sat down, without some kind of work in her hands and this continued to the end.
When eighteen years of age during a revival under the pastorate of Rev. Patterson she was converted, and united with the Methodist church at Fairview to which church she continued a useful and consistent follower of her Master, later transferring her membership to the Earlham Methodist church.
She took part in almost every church activity, serving as Sunday School teacher, active in the Missionary Society, and was a member of the Board of Stewards for years.
"She rests from her labors, and her works do follow her."
Her last audible words were tired, I'm so tired, and in a few moments was gone.
"Tired oh, yes so tired dear!
The day has been very long,
But shadowy gloaming draweth near,
Tis time for the evening song
I'm ready to go to rest at last
Ready to say"Good Night"!
The sunset glory darkens fast
Tomorrow will bring the light."She was united in marriage to Cortis Cook February 26, 1913, and for almost 20 years they shared the joys and sorrows of wedded life.
(Burial was made in the Fairview cemetery)
