Seth Thomas Hamblin

Seth Thomas Hamblin, son of Josephus and Rachel Hamblin, was born in Lincoln county, Kansas, Jan. 30, 1880. He came with his parents to Iowa when a small child and has ever since lived in the Macksburg and Pitzer neighborhoods. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Etta Sawyer, Feb. 7, 1907. To this union were born two children, Zola and Deva.

Mr. Hamblin accepted Christ Oct. 15, 1917, and during the past five years of sickness has borne his suffering with grace and patience and at the last expressed himself as having no fear of death. The wife will ever cherish the memory of a kind and loving companion and the children will always revere the name of their father, because of his love and care.

He passed away at his home near Pitzer on Nov. 9, 1924, aged 44 years, 10 months and 11 days. He leaves to mourn his loss, besides his wife and children, a stepson and wife, Mr. and Mrs. George Sawyer of Orient; one brother, Hannibal Hamblin of Macksburg; and five sisters, Mrs. Nellie Richmond and Mrs. Anna Busch of Winterset, Mrs. Belle Schoonover of Macksburg, Mrs. Mary Burgan of Barney an Mrs. Kate Flint of Anderson, Ind. and a host of neighbors and friends.

The funeral service was held at the home Nov. 11th, conducted by Rev. Spurling of Early Chapel and the interment was at the Roberts cemetery.

Seth Thomas Hamblin, son of Josephus and Rachael Hamblin, was born in Lincoln county, Kansas, Jan. 21, 1880 and died Nov. --, 1924 aged 44 years, 9 months and 22 days.

He came to Madison county with his parents at an early age and has been a resident of Jackson township near Pitzer, Iowa, practically all of his life.

He was married to Mrs.Minnie Sawyer in ----, and to this union two children were born, namely, Lola and Deva Hamblin.

He also leaves five sisters and one brother, namely, Mrs. Nellie Richmond of Winterset, Iowa, Mrs. Belle Schonover of Macksburg, Iowa, Mrs. Mary E. Burgan of Barney, Iowa, Mrs. Anna Bush of Winterset, Mrs. Kate Flynt of Anderson, Indiana, and Mr. Hannibal Hamblin of Macksburg, together with his stepson and wife, Geo. and Marie Sawyer, besides a host of friends and neighbors.

Mr. Hamblin confessed his Christ in October, 1913.

Funeral services were held at the home, Tuesday afternoon, at 2:00 o’clock, conducted by T. E. Spurling. Burial at Roberts Cemetery.
