Mrs. J. E. Garst, well-known Peru resident, died at her home there last Tuesday, Feb. 14th at the age of 72 years, after an extended illness.
Mrs. Garst was the former Lena H. Moore, daughter of Benjamin and Margaret N. Moore and was born in Washington county, Penn., June 19, 1865. She moved to Iowa with her parents when she was less than two years of age.
Her marriage to Mr. Garst was solemnized June 13, 1897. In March 1912, she united with the Christian church at Peru, and she was a faithful member until her death.
Mrs. Garst was the last of a family of nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband, two nephews and two nieces.
The Rev. Howard Machian conducted her funeral services which were held at the Kale funeral home in Truro Thursday afternoon and burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
