MRS. SARAH WENGART (WENGERT) SERVICES AT EARLHAM

Funeral services were held last Wednesday from the Leeper funeral home in Earlham for Mrs. Sarah Wengert of that community whose death had occurred July 3 at the Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset.

Mrs. Wengert was 69 years of age at her death, and had been a resident of Madison county since 1926.

Surviving are a son, Raymone McElvogue of Marshall, Tex, and four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Sands, of Chicago, Mrs. Goldie Bequeaith of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Gladys Dwiere of National City, Calif. and Mrs. Anna M. Jacks.

SARAH MATILDA FISHER

Sarah Matilda Fisher was born at Levey in Allen township in Polk county, Iowa, on April 24, 1888, to Elvira Lang Fisher and Cornelius Fisher. She grew to womanhood in and around Levey and Avon. On the 29th of October, 1905, she was buried with her Lord Jesus Christ in Baptism in the River near Levey.

By a previous marriage, she bore five children, one of whom died in an auto accident on August 28, 1929 - Joseph McElvogue. the other four are now married and are: Ruth Sands of Chicago, Illinois; Goldie Bequeath, of San Diego, California; Gladys Dwiere, of National City, California; and Raymond A. McElvogue of Marshall, Texas. On July 14, 1926, Sarah was married to Frank Wilbur Wengert, at Adel. To this union was born one daughter, now Anna Marie Jacks of Des Moines.

The Wengerts lived in and near Earlham, farming for a few years, then moving in to Earlham. Mrs. Wengert was know to be a hard worker, and her fondness of beautiful flowers and outdoor work was evidenced by her big and varied vegetable and flower gardens. They were enjoyed by all who passed by the Wengert home.

Ill for several years, her decline in health was steady, and in the past few months she was confined to her bed, and was cared for by her husband. Finally, her relief from all earthly pain and sickness came on Wednesday morning, July 3, 1957, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, in Winterset, where she had been admitted the night before.

Besides her husband and children, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Collins of Indianola and Mrs. Myrtle Dickinson of Colo, Iowa, and seven grandchildren along with many other relatives. Her parents and a brother Raymond C. Fisher preceded her in death, and also her one son, Joseph McElvogue.
