Death Occurred Tuesday of Last Week at Home in Peru
Mrs. L. D. Stevens, a life-long resident of Madison county died Tuesday, Sept. 10, at her home in Peru. She was 73 years of age.
Mrs. Stevens was the former Elsie Clyde Hoover, one of nine daughters born to Henry and Sarah Hoover. She was born near Elm Grove on April 4, 1884.
She was married to Lester D. Stevens on Oct 6, 1909, at Winterset. Her husband survives her.
She was a member of the Methodist church, in which she was an active worker.
In addition to her husband; she leaves her father, Henry Hoover; an d seven sisters, Mrs. Neil Travis, Mrs. Madge Stevens, Mrs. Pearl Draper and Mrs. Ray Fenimore, all of Peru, Mrs. Nan Childers and Mrs. Doris Stirts of Des Moines, and Mrs. Ruby Imes of Arvada, Colo.
Funeral services were held last Thursday from the Peru Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. Earl Travis. Burial was made in the King cemetery.
