Prominent Webster Township Farmer Had Been in Failing Health
Isaac N. Eivins, prominent Webster township farmer, died Sunday at his home near Macksburg after an extended period of failing health. He was 75 years of age.
Mr. Eivins had been a leading citizen of his community for many years. He was a successful farmer and for some years served as a director of the Farmers and Merchants State bank in Winterset. He had been a member of the I.O.O.F. for half a century, and attended the Wesley Chapel Methodist church.
He was born Dec. 17, 1872, in Clarke county, the son of John and Evoline Eivins. His early life was spent in Clarke and Union counties. His home had been in Madison county for 45 years.
He was married June 6, 1898, to Ida V. Bates. They observed their Golden Wedding anniversary last June.
Surviving are his wife; six children, Claude Eivins of Macksburg, Mrs. Florence Campbell of Jamestown, N. D., Floyd Eivins of Winterset, Mrs. Mildred Karns of Creston, Mrs. Gladys Binns of Lorimor, and Doyle Eivins of Macksburg. He also leaves 21 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Wesley Chapel Methodist church, in charge of the Rev. Ben Hamilton. Burial was made in the Moon cemetery.
