Death of Col. John Duff

Col. John Duff, former Madison county resident, died at his apartment in Adel Sunday, after a short illness, with heart trouble and complications. He was 69 years of age and had been active until a few weeks before his death.

He took up auctioneering about 35 years ago and became one of the leading auctioneers of southern Iowa. He was known by practically every farmer in Madison and Dallas counties.

He is survived by three brothers, A. R. and Dave Duff of Winterset and Jim Duff of Adel. The Rev. W. G. Robertson of Winterset conducted the funeral service at the United Brethren church northeast of Winterset, Wednesday, March 18th and burial was in the church cemetery.
