Page 1GEORGE J. CAREY DIES AT PRESCOTT
Had Lived for 30 Years on One Farm in Madison County
George J. Carey, formerly of Madison county, died Jan. 3 at his home at Prescott, after a brief illness, it was learned here late last week. He was 76 years of age.
Mr. Carey was a native of Warren county, where he was born Aug. 12, 1871. His entire life was spent in Iowa. He lived on the same farm in Madison county for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, the former Maude Ella Wilson, whom he married March 25, 1896. He also leaves two daughters, Ethel, at home, and Mrs. Pearl Berry, of Winterset; in addition to a sister, Mrs. Edna Pepper of Des Moines and two brothers, John Carey of San Bernardino, Calif., and W. E. Carey of Omaha; and several grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Jan. 6 from the Prescott Methodist church, and burial was made in the Evergreen cemetery, near there.
