Death occurred at Memorial Hospital at Age of 81 Years
Elwood Macumber, a prominent Madison county farmer and a resident of this community most of his life, died Sunday, May 26, at Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 81 years of age.
Mr. Macumber was born on a farm in Lincoln township, on Dec. 5, 1875, a son of Andrew and Elizabeth Macumber. He was married Nov. 2, 1904, at Peru, to Verna C. Deardorff. They were parents of three sons and two daughters. One daughter, Mrs. Frances Schade of Pocahontas, died last July.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Robert Macumber of Lorimor, Rolland Macumber of Macon, Mo., and Morris Macumber of the U.S. navy; a daughter, Mrs. Marian Carlson of Des Moines; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held here Tuesday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. George DeF. Fisher, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Clark cemetery in Monroe township.
