Operated West End Grocery in Winterset for Past 21 Years
Ralph A. Lamport, a Winterset business man for 21 years, died last Friday, Oct. 18 at Rochester, Minn. After a month’s illness. He had undergone major surgery a few days prior to his death and had appeared on his way to recovery when he suffered a sudden relapse.
Mr. Lamport was 48 years of age. He was a native of Minneapolis, Minn., where he was born Oct. 9, 1909. He came to Winterset 21 years ago and since that time had owned and operated the West End grocery here.
He leaves his wife, Mabel; a son, Dennis, both of Winterset; his step-father, Charles G. Nelson of Tracy, Minn.; and two aunts, Mrs. Grace Boatman and Mrs. Josephine Terhune.
Funeral services were held this Monday from the Richards Funeral home here, with the Rev. Robert W. Kem of St. Andrews Episcopal church in Des Moines officiating. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
