Death of Mrs. David Gentry

Mrs. David Gentry died on Monday morning at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines from gastric hemorrhage. She had undergone an operation for the removal of a cataract on Saturday. Mrs. Gentry had also undergone an operation several years ago on the other eye for the same trouble. She had also suffered greatly from sugar diabetes for a long time, which made her general health poor.

Mrs. Gentry was a daughter of Benjamin and Margaret Moore. She is survived by one daughter of Dixie, Wash., who arrived today and one son, O. M. Gentry of Minnesota.

The funeral services will be held ---day afternoon at 2:30 at the Church of Christ.

OBITUARIES - Mrs. D. M. Gentry

Henrietta Moore, daughter of Benjamin and Margaret Moore, was born in Washington county, Pennsylvania, on Nov. 5, 1857 and died at the age of 65 years, 3 months and 10 days. She was one of a family of eight children. She moved with her parents to Iowa in 1866, where she had since resided.

On June 20, 1878 she was united in marriage to D. M. Gentry of Winterset and to this union three children were borne, one of whom, James Ralph, departed this life on Feb. 13, 1887. The surviving ones are O. M. Gentry of Morgan, Minn., and Mrs. Carrie May Roy of Dixie, Wash.

In her earlier years she united with the Christian church during a revival held at the Hooten school house.

Mrs. Gentry had been in failing health for the last few years, but her condition was not considered serious. She had been taken to the Lutheran hospital at Des Moines for medical treatment, and when word came to Winterset last Monday evening that the end had come, the shock was severe. She became suddenly worse Monday morning and in a few hours the spirit had departed.

She leaves to hold her in fond memory the companion, one son, one daughter, one sister, Mrs. Lena Garst of Peru; one grandson, Leman Roy and one granddaughter Marie Gentry. Other more distant relatives join these in memory and sympathy. Because of the disposition to be of service to others, Mrs. Gentry made many friends, who linger to think of her good deeds and kind words.

Funeral services were conducted from the Church of Christ Friday afternoon by Rev. E. B. Chancellor. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
