Oak Grove Services For J. S. Hindman

J. S. Hindman, a former resident of Webster township, died Monday, Oct 7, at a nursing home in Denison. Mr. Hindman had moved from here to Defiance a few years ago.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2:30 p.m. form the Oak Grove church in Webster township.

Note: Husband of Myrtle A. (Rogers) Hindman

Burial was in the Wight Cemetery.

SERVICES THURSDAY FOR J. S. HINDMAN

The body of John Stanley Hindman, whose death occurred at Denison Oct. 7, was brought home to Madison county last Thursday for funeral services and burial. Services were held at 10 a.m. at Defiance, where he had lived in recent years, after which the funeral party came to Madison county for services at 2:30 p.m. from the Oak Grove E.U.B. church. The Rev. Robert Dragoo of Defiance was in charge. Burial was made in the Wight cemetery near Oak Grove.

Mr. Hindman was born in Jackson township on Dec. 13, 1879, a son of Samuel and Margaret Hindman. He was 77 years of age at his death. He had been ill for about nine years, and for the last year was in serious condition.

His life was spent in farming in Madison county, until he moved to Defiance in December of 1953. He was married on Dec. 2, 1903, to Myrtle Rogers. They were parents of four children, one of whom died in infancy. They observed their Golden wedding anniversary in 1953.

He had been a member of the Evangelical United Brethren church since early life, first at the Maple Grove church and later at the Oak Grove church. He had held most of the local offices in his church.

Surviving are his widow, of Defiance; two daughters, Mrs. W. R. Terry of Lisbon, N.Y., and Mrs. Wesley Hulsebus of Buck Grove; a son, the Rev. Ralph Hindman of Griswold; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Dora Cox of Des Moines; Mrs. Grace Finney of Winslow, Ariz.; Mrs. Pearl Dodd of El Paso, Tex.; Mrs. Lua Dodd of Johnstown, Nebr.; Delno Hindman of Newton; Mrs. Aletha DeWitt of Eldora; and Lloyd Hindman of Plattsville, Colo.
