YOUNG WINTERSET MOTHER IS DEAD

Mrs. Harriet Utsler Dies at 24 Years; Leaves Two Small Children

Mrs. Merl Utsler, young Winterset mother of two small children, died Wednesday, Dec. 29 at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lewis of near Booneville. Her death occurred at the age of 24 years, after a lingering illness.

Mrs. Utsler was the former Harriet Lewis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lewis, and was born at Indianola on Nov. 28, 1924. When she was 8 years old she moved with her parents to the vicinity of St. Charles, and after six years there moved to the farm near Booneville. She attended the Winterset high school, graduating here with the class of 1943.

She was married to Merl Utsler on Dec. 14, 1943, and her home since had been in Winterset. They were the parents of two children, Gary and Diana Lee.

She had united with the Indianola Baptist church when she was 14 years of age, and was a member of the Rebecca lodge and the Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband; the two small children; her parents; a sister, Alberta; a brother, Frank; and her grandmother, Mrs. Taylor.

Funeral services were held New Year's day from the Winterset Methodist church, in charge of the Rev. F. Don Worden, pastor of the Winterset Baptist church and the Rev. G. L. Hufstader of the Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
