Long-Time Resident of This Community was 66 Years of Age
LeRoy J. Purscell, a resident of this community practically all his life, died here last Thursday, May 13, at the age of 66 years.
He was the son of James and Sarah Purscell, and was born in Madison county, March 18, 1882. He was married April 17, 1905 to Jennie White. She died in 1922. On April 2, 1924, he was married to Ida Belle Whitworth, who survives him.
With the exception of three years in Adair county, his life was spent in this community.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three children, Mrs. Alvin Alloway of Des Moines, and Lonnie and Carrol Purscell of near Winterset; two step daughters, Mrs. Louie E. Waltz of Winterset and Mrs. William Watts of Newton; three brothers, Charley, Jim and Wilbur Purscell, all of Winterset; a sister, Mrs. Walter Smith of Creston; five grandchildren; and nine step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday from Anderson's home for funerals, in charge of the Rev. Howard Strong, pastor of the Winterset Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
