GEORGE M. MCCLEARY DIES AT 89 YEARS

Had Returned Here Lately After Several Years in Oklahoma

George Marshall McCleary, long time resident of Madison county, who would have been 89 years old in two weeks, died here in Winterset Saturday, Oct. 30th. Mr. McCleary was born in Coshocton county, Ohio, Nov. 14, 1859, and came to this county when he was 20 years of age. He was married to Tina Hiner in 1880, and for many years they lived on a farm a mile east of Pitzer.

In 1920 some of the family moved to Wewaka, Okla., and Mr. McCleary resided there until this spring, when he returned to Madison county to make his home with a son, J. O. McCleary. A few weeks ago he came to Winterset to stay during the winter months.

He was a former member of the Early Chapel Christian church and later of the Christian church at Wewaka. Mrs. McCleary died in 1934 and he is survived by five sons: Roy and Grover of Seattle, Wash., Fay of Lame Deer, Mont., Gene of Davenport and J. O. McCleary of Winterset. A daughter Blanche and two sons, Clyde and Lloyd preceded him in death. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Della Conley of Omaha, Neb., and 18 grandchildren.

The Rev. I. E. Linkletter conducted Mr. McClearys' funeral services Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 3 at 1:30 p.m. from the Richards funeral home, and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
