ACCIDENT CAUSED BY DOG IN CAR

Mrs. Lilly Bergman Dies After Car Hits Bridge Abutment

Mrs. Lilly Bergman of Patterson was fatally injured Monday, Aug. 12, when the car in which she was riding struck a bridge abutment on highway No. 92, a mile west of Martensdale in Warren county.

The accident occurred when the family dog, which had been riding in the back seat, jumped into the front seat. This caused Mrs. Bergman’s son, 18 year old Dennis Schultz, to lose control of the car.

Mrs. Bergman was taken to a Des Moines hospital where she died shortly after arrival. Her son escaped with minor scalp lacerations.

Mrs. Bergman was 37 years of age. She and her family had lived at Patterson only about a month.

The body was taken to Mason City for funeral services and burial.
