FORMER RESIDENT DIES AT KNOXVILLE

(St. Charles--Special)

Relatives and friends were shocked when word came Thursday night that Roy Downs had died suddenly from a heart attack at his home in Knoxville. He complained of not feeling well and his wife called a doctor, but he passed away just as the doctor reached him. He was a son of the late James and Mary Downs, and was born and grew to manhood in St. Charles. He was 54 years of age and a veteran of World War I.

By profession he was a barber and with his twin brother, Loy, operated the barber shop in St. Charles several years ago and later he worked in the Veterans barber shop in Knoxville for quite a while but had given that up and had gone into other work. His twin brother, Loy, passed away a year ago and his only sister, Miss Ambrosia Downs passed away last October. Besides his wife and daughter, Martha Blanche he is survived by two brothers, David of Ft. Madison and A. B. Downs of Unionville, Mo. A large number of relatives and friends from St. Charles attended the funeral and burial was made at Knoxville Monday afternoon.
