Succumbed Last Friday at Hospital; Never Regained Consciousness

Harold Scott, Jr., aged 23, of Winterset died last Friday afternoon at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines as result of injuries sustained when he was hit by a car here the night of Feb. 12.

The young man's death occurred just five days after the accident. He never regained consciousness after being hit.

The accident which resulted in his death occurred Sunday, Feb. 12, about midnight, during the blinding snowstorm which swept the county that night. They were walking, wheeling their bicycles along highway No. 169, just south of town, when both were hit by a car driven by Gerald Lathrop of Des Moines.

Hibdon escaped with bruises and abrasions, but Scott was fatally injured.

The young man was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Scott, Sr., and had lived in this community since 1942. He is survived by his parents and two brothers.

The body was taken to Monmouth, Ill., where funeral services and burial were held this Tuesday.
