William A. Porter of Truro, whose death May 16 at the Harken hospital in Osceola was reported in the Madisonian last week, had lived his entire life in the vicinity of Truro, with the exception of a few years near New Virginia.
He was a member of a well known family there, being the son of John C. and Nancy Creger Porter. He was born in South township, Dec. 17, 1867. He was married to Josie Dowler, Oct. 11, 1893, and they were the parents of four children, one son, Russell, dying at the age of four years.
He had been living in Truro for the last five years. He and Mrs. Porter observed their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1943, and in October of this year would have been married 55 years.
He is survived by his wife; three children, Mrs. Inez Phillips of Blairsburg; Opal Porter of Cedar Rapids, and Harry Porter of Centerville; four grandchildren; a brother, Fletcher Porter of Truro; and a sister, Mrs. H. R. Plumb of Oakland.
Funeral services were conducted last Wednesday from the Kale Funeral home at Truro, in charge of the Rev. Hugh Dowler of Laramie, Wyo. Burial was made in the Young cemetery.
