JOHN HENRY DEVAULT

John Henry DeVault, seventh child of Johnahan and Malinda DeVault, was born September 26, 1866 in Johnson county, Iowa, and died November 19, 1956 at Macon, Missouri, at the age of ninety years, one month, and twenty-two days.

He came to Madison county with his parents, who settled in Penn township when the land was still prairie. They purchased their farm from the government. He lived the rest of his life in Penn township with the exception of the last few years which were spent in a nursing home at Macon, Missouri.

Mr. DeVault was a member of the Masonic lodge of Dexter, and has received his fifty-year certificate of membership.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters-Ann, Rhoda, and Mae, a twin brother and sister-Starwder and Jane, and two other brothers-Charles and Frank.

He is survived by four nieces and three nephews, as follows: Mrs. Mattie Bitcum, Mrs. Lois Peer, Mrs. Malinda Smith, Mrs. Carolyn Siebers; Cliff and Arthur DeVault, and Theron Smith.

John DeVault, 90 Died in Missouri

Funeral Services Friday at Penn Center Church

John DeVault, 90, former Dexter farmer, died Monday at the Missouri Nursing home where he has spent the past several years.

Masonic funeral services will be held for Mr. DeVault at the Penn Center Methodist church at 1:30 p.m., November 23 with Rev. Paul Textor officiating.

The Anderson funeral home in Winterset has charge of the arrangements and friends may call at the funeral home prior to Friday’s service.

LAST RITES HELD FOR JOHN DeVAULT

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Penn Center Methodist church for John Henry DeVault, who passed away on November 19. Rev. Paul Textor was in charge.

Music was furnished by Mrs. Merle Leeper. The casket bearers were Frantz Lenocker, Charles J. Thompson, Francis Hochstetler, Carl Bloomquist, and Robert Wells.

Interment was at the Penn Center cemetery.
