Mrs. Anna Koch

Anna Christine Dorthea Laurenen was born at Hallstedler Neuendeich, Schleswig, Germany. She was baptized and confirmed in the faith of the Evangelical Lutheran church.

She was married to Anton Freidrickson on the island of Pellorm. In 1881 the couple immigrated to America, settling near Winterset, later moving to Dexter. Mr. Friedrickson died in November 1899. The widow later married Mr. Koch.

While maintaining a home in Dexter as well as membership in the Lutheran church there Mrs. Koch for about fifteen years made her home with Mrs. Lucinda Cutshall near Van Meter. After a short illness she died June 3, aged 74 years, 3 months and 2 days. The surviving relatives are Ludwig Laurenen of Sumner, Nebraska; Chris of Germany and Carl of Silverton, Oregon, also a nephew in Roseville, Michigan.

Funeral services were conducted June 6 at the George Cutshall home by Rev. C. Lilie, pastor of Trinity Lutheran church near Van Meter and burial was by her first husband in the Winterset cemetery.

Coordinator's note: Transcribed as published. There are three different versions of her maiden surname in these two obituaries and her Iowa Death Certificate. Yet a fourth version is on brother Carl's gravestone in Silverton, Oregon which is "Lorenzen" which is assumed to be correct. Likewise, the surname of her first husband is taken from his gravestone.
