GEORGE YOUMANS OF TRURO PASSES

Resident of Madison County Many Years Succumbs in Des Moines

(Truro--Special)

George W. Youmans, a well known farmer here for most of his life, died Wednesday, Sept. 27 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. H. Reed, in Des Moines.

Mr. Youmans had been living with the daughter in Grinnell and Des Moines since failing health and partial paralysis left him an invalid nine years ago. He had been critically ill for a week preceding his death. He would have been 92 years of age Oct. 2.

Mr. Youmans was a native of Peoria county, Illinois where he was born Oct. 2, 1857, a son of Jason and Sarah Youmans. He came to Madison county as a young man and lived here 66 years.

He was married in 1886 to Belle Deardorff. They were the parents of six children, one daughter and two sons preceding him in death. His wife died in 1935.

He leaves one son, Ernest C. Youmans of Truro; two daughters, Mrs. M. S. Creger of Truro and Mrs. Reed of Des Moines; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Funeral services were held last Friday from the Kale funeral home, in charge of the Rev. V. R. Willey of the Truro Congregational Christian church, and the Rev. Fred Cooper of Des Moines. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
