Long-Time Resident of This County Was 83 Years of Age
Mrs. Beatrice Simmons, a resident of the Peru community most of her life, died Tuesday, April 25 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ned Garmer, in Des Moines. She was 83 years of age.
Mrs. Simmons was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Mease of Peru. She was the widow of the late J. A. Simmons, whose death occurred about 17 years ago. Their home was in the Peru community until moving to Winterset shortly before the death of Mr. Simmons. About four years ago she disposed of her home in Winterset and since then had been living with her children.
She is survived by five children: Mrs. Garmer of Des Moines, Horatio Simmons of Winterset, George Simmons of Lorimor, Mrs. Walter Porter of Peru, and Mrs. Arthur Ralston of Des Moines. One daughter, Mrs. Ray Hope, preceded the mother in death.
She also leaves 17 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Winterset Presbyterian church, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Clement D. Loehr. Burial will be made in the Peru cemetery.

Mrs. Beatrice Simmons, 83, died early Tuesday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ned Garmer, 1237 Thirty-ninth st., with whom she came to live six months ago from her home in Winterset.
Services will be a 2 p. m. Thursday at the Winterset Presbyterian church, with burial at Peru cemetery. Mrs. Simmons was born in Madison county, and was member of the Winterset Methodist church.
Also surviving are two other daughters, Mrs. Ola Porter, Peru, and Mrs. Clara Rollstin, Des Moines; and two sons, George, Lorimor, and Horatio Simmons, Winterset; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
