Mrs. Louisa Imboden, a pioneer resident of Penn township, died at her home, there, early last Thursday morning, February 20th, at the age of 83 years.
Mrs. Imboden was born in Holmes county, Ohio. She was married to Frederick Imboden on January 14, 1866, and they came to Madison county in that year. They purchased land in Penn township and continued to reside there until in 1906, when Mr. and Mrs. Imboden moved to Earlham. Two years later Mr. Imboden died and Mrs. Imboden went back to Penn township, to reside with her children. Last fall, she went to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cord Boyle, and she became ill, there, a few weeks ago.
Rev. Carl Corrie conducted the funeral services for Mrs. Imboden last Saturday afternoon, February 22, at 2:30 o’clock, and burial was made in the Penn Center cemetery. Mrs. Imboden is survived by five children: Julius, of Holly, Colorado; and Ed, Fred, Roy and Mrs. Cora Boyle, of Penn township.

Louisa Fites was born in Holmes county, Ohio, January 19, 1847. She was the daughter of John and Margaret Fites. Her parents were natives of Switzerland, who migrated to America in 1833. They settled in Ohio, where all their nine children were born. It was in Holmes county, Ohio, on the 14th day of January, 1866, that she was united in marriage to Frederick Imboden, who was born in Switzerland, and came to America with his parents, in 1852.
To Mr. and Mrs. Imboden were born seven children, Lovie and Mary deceased in 1924. The rest of the children are living. Julies lives in Holly, Colorado, and Ed, Fred, Mrs. Cora Boyle and Roy, reside in the neighborhood of the original Imboden homestead, in Penn township. There are 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Mrs. Imboden joined the church when she was a young girl, and she and her husband identified themselves with the Penn Center Methodist church, when it was first organized. For a number of years, Mrs. Imboden had been feeble in health, but retained the vigor of her faith until the last. She died early Thursday morning, February 20th, at the age of 83 years.
Funeral services were held at the Penn Center church, Saturday, February 22, at 2 o’clock, and burial was made in the Penn Center cemetery.
