Will Freck

William Frederick Freck, was born near Grimes, Dallas county, Iowa on May 7, 1886. He died at the state hospital at Clarinda Sunday evening, October 22, 1933, aged 47 years. He was the son of Christopher and Kathleen Schuele Freck who emigrated to America from Germany. They bought their farm in Madison county in 1895 and settled on the farm in east Jackson township which is the home of the Williams' family. They worshipped with the Pitzer United Presbyterian congregation. When 15 years of age Will professed his faith in Christ under the ministry of Rev. W. B. Barr. On February 27, 1919 he married Miss Catherine E. McCalman. God gave them three children, Evelyn, Freda, and Katherine Mae. Four sisters survive him; Mrs. Louise Groth and Mrs. Anna Lee of Winterset, Mrs. Clara Meilike of Altoona, Mrs. Pauline Freck of Quincy, Illinois and Miss Minnie, deceased.

Mr. Freck was an honest, industrious and successful farmer. His labor in corn breeding was a blessing to the county. He was an upright Christian and a worthy member of the church. He was serving as chairman of the Board of Trustees of Pitzer at the time of the beginning of his illness. He was a fine, firm friend to many who lament his tragic death with sincere sorrow.

Funeral services were held at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday in charge of his pastor, W. C. Porter. Burial was made at Winterset.
