Death of Mrs. George Shaw

Mrs. George Shaw, a life long resident of Madison county, died at the Winterset hospital Friday morning, January 20th at the age of 52 years. Mrs. Shaw, who was a resident of Webster township, came to the Winterset hospital for treatment several weeks ago. She had an operation last week and she was thought to be recovering nicely, when she had a relapse and died.

Mrs. Shaw was the former Edna Wight, the daughter of George and Susie Wight. She was born in Webster township, October 7, 1880. She spent her girlhood on the farm and her marriage to Mr. Shaw took place May 30, 1897. They were the parents of two children, Glen and Floyd Shaw, both of Winterset.

In addition to her husband and two sons, Mrs. Shaw leaves two grandchildren, Cecil and Loraine Shaw. She also leaves five brothers and sisters: Arch and Frank Wight, and Mrs. Myrtle Short of Winterset, Claude Wight of Pasadena, California, and Mrs. Susie Liner of Cove, Arkansas. A sister, Mrs. Lillie Hart died in January 1923 at Edgar, Montana.
