LAWRENCE POWERS FATALLY INJURED

Trampled by Horse Last Satruday at Farm Near Indianola

Lawrence Powers, formerly of Winterset, was fatally injured last Saturday in a farm accident near Indianola. Trampled by a horse, he received injuries which caused his death Tuesday night at a Des Moines hospital. He was 62 years of age.

The accident occurred at the farm of his son-in-law, George Burns of near Indianola. Powers appears to have been harnessing a horse in the barn, and in some manner fell under the animal's feet. He was later found unconscious, after being severely trampled.

His injuries consisted of a punctured lung, broken ribs, fractured left arm, and cuts and bruises.

For much of his active life, Powers was an employee of the Hartsook Farm Implement company in Winterset. He later served as manager of the John Deere Equipment company in Indianola, until retiring from that work recently.

He had been living in Indianola since moving there from Winterset several years ago.

He is survived by his wife, of Indianola; two sons, Maurice Powers of Winterset and Robert Powers of Indianola; two daughters, Mildred Powers and Mrs. George Burns of Indianola; and several grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Indianola this Friday at 2 p.m. in the Methodist church. Burial will be made at Winterset.
