Truro Special, June 10th 1930.
Winfield Porter died at his home in New Virginia, Friday morning, June 6th. Funeral services were held at St. Charles, Sunday, with interment in the St. Charles cemetery. Mr. Porter formerly lived here, and has two brothers residing here, Fletcher and Will Porter.

The many friends of Winfield Porter will regret to hear of his passing away at his home in New Virginia last Friday. Winfield was a resident of this county for more than fifty years, moving to New Virginia about sixteen years ago.
Quite a large number of his friends and relatives from Truro and vicinity attended his funeral in New Virginia Sunday afternoon. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
He leaves to mourn his departure his widow, three sons, twelve grandchildren, three brothers, two sisters and a host of friends.

Page 9, Columns 4 & 5W. S. Porter died Friday morning after a long illness. The funeral was held at the M. E. church Sunday afternoon at the M. E. church Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Clarence Moore, and he was laid to rest in the St. Charles cemetery.
