Elsworth Macumber, former Madison county resident, died Friday, December 8th, in the hospital at Sacramento, California, at the age of 72 years. Mr. Macumber had been in poor health for two years and the last eighteen months he was in the Sacramento hospital.

The deceased was a son of J. A. and Sarah Hartsook Macumber and was born September 9, 1861 in the Macumber homestead in Lincoln township. Here he grew to manhood and made his home until about thirty years ago, when he went west. Since then he has lived in several states. For years he was connected with the forest ranger work, living during the summer in the isolated cabin among the mountains and in the winter with Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Allen at Elk Grove, California.

In September 1933 he was baptized and united with the Methodist Episcopal church. The body was brought back to Winterset and Rev. L. H. Lanning, pastor of the Methodist church conducted his funeral services at the Ord church Wednesday afternoon, December 13th at 2 o'clock and burial was in the Clark Cemetery.
