Mrs. Eph Manning of Winterset committed suicide at her home in the southwest part of town last Wednesday evening, about eleven o'clock by drinking poison. Mrs. Manning had been in poor health for several years. She was 48 years of age.
The deceased was the former Bessie Mae Weems, a daughter of Sorval and Ansie Weems. She was born in Dallas county, November 22, 1885. She moved to Webster township with her folks in 1900. On October 31, 1912, she was married to Enoch Ephriam Manning and they have since made their home in Winterset. They were the parents of three sons, Cleo, Hubert and Biritie who with the father survive her. She also leaves her mother and two brothers, William Roy and David Weems.
Mrs. Manning was baptized into the Reorganized church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, when she was thirteen years of age and was a faithful member of the church.
Elder Stephen Robinson of Des Moines conducted her funeral services at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home. Saturday afternoon, June 3rd and burial was in the Welty cemetery.
