Well Known Resident Had Fatal Heart Attack At His Home
Dan J. Murphy, well known farmer of the Irish settlement died at his home near Cumming Tuesday morning, Dec. 12 at the age of 76 years. Mr. Murphy had been in failing health for several months and suffered a heart attack last Thursday, and another more severe one Tuesday morning which caused his death.
He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Murphy and was born in Madison county. His home had always been in either Lee township or in the west edge of Warren county. For many years he was manager of the Mamie Cunningham farms, and following her death in 1933, he continued to reside in her home.
He is survived by three brothers, John, Tom and Pete Murphy all of Des Moines.
Requiem mass for Mr. Murphy will be held at the St. Patrick's church in Lee township Thursday morning at nine o'clock, and burial will be made in the cemetery there.
