Had Lived 73 Years on Home Farm Located in Scott Township
George W. Barber, life-long resident of Madison county, died at his home in Scott township last Thursday, Aug. 17 at the age of 75 years.
Mr. Barber was a son of John and Louisa Barber. With the exception of two years, his entire life was spent on the farm in Scott township where he was born Oct. 17, 1874.
He was married Jan. 30, 1901, to Lulu Shutt. They were the parents of three children. They are Russell Barber of Winterset, Walter Barber of West Des Moines and Mrs. Mae Strable of Prole.
In addition to the wife and three children, he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Alice Brown of Winterset and Mrs. Laura McKanna of Three Forks, Mont.; two brothers, Arthur and Walter Barber of Lincoln, Neb.; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Boyd Zoehler. Burial was made in the Union Chapel cemetery.
